I totally was thinking - I mean someday on my wedding nite i wanna stun my husband with how I look - but if I go around in a bikini - there is NO SUPRISE!!! He's practially already seen me!!! So if I want him to be in awe, i gotta keep covered till then - just my opinion

I don't want to just "live" I want to experience life.

I donno. for me, onepieces are really immodest... they are too thin!!!
I wear a bikini (not a flimsy little mini one, but it's too short to be a tankini, but longer than a bikini...) but I wear boardies over them and sometimes a rash vest... (you know, those surfy top things they wear while surfing... not a wetsuit, just a shirt...) (I luv my rash vest. It's billabong, a top surfy brand, and it cost me $60... but it's pink and brown and looks so styly!!!)
But yeah, I hardly go swimming, so I dont really wear it that often :D

Just so you know... it's not just about us girls... Guys with their shirts off is a BIG distraction to me... Like In the hugging topic, I said Im a huggy person, but I wont hug a guy (even my friends) if his shirt is off, cuz its too much of a distraction... Im like "Look away!!!" lol

As a general rule, if you think what you're wearing might cause a guy to trip up with his thought life...don't wear it!

IDK they just are. cuz, well, the decent looking guys look really nice with their shirts off, and I shouldnt be thinking that about guys, so it's distracting. especially if they are tonned!!

for me, guys with their shirts off, isn't too distracting, i'll look away and it's no big deal. But that's just me. However, i will look at a guy in a speedo, and he better be competing in the olympics, or i'll take one look at him and say, "oookay then." IDK, they don't exactly "fly" with me.

i have to admit, guys chests are definitely a stumbling block for me.

it's not like, i go goo-goo-ga-ga over them. but it's probably the same for guys when girls wear low cut shirts. it's not like, OH MY GOSH I CAN'T STOP STARING AT HER. but it's still awkward and...yick.

of course it's somewhat different at the beach and when i'm with just friends who i'm not attracted to at all. but when a cute guy is shirtless and as jojo put "toned", well...let's just say my mind may not be on my pb&j sandwich.

and that's not to say i'm some lustful freak, either. but so many people think only guys are lust-filled and the "wolves in sheep's clothing". girls deal with lust, too!

K I have a philosphy on the beach - normally I wouldn't be caught dead in a miniskirt, but "there is a time and a place for everything" - the beach isn't the mall - im obviously against bikinis, but I don't see anything wrong with a modest bathing suit w a short skirt....when it comes to guys? I admitt that I guys chest could be distracting to me if I let myself think about it, but at the beach I go with the midset, "guys will have their shirts off - so what - don't lay thier and check em out, its time to swim and have fun" - one of my guy friends says he uses the same philosophy for girls, he says he expects girls to be dressed revealing more skin, but he prepares himself with, "dont let ur eyes linger-this isn't Sports Illustrated-control yourself" - I honeslty think its kinna crazy for a guy to swim with a shirt on, however if im just hanging out during the summer - guys, PUT A SHIRT ON!!!! Once your outta the water, girls put on shorts and a top - guys put on a shirt. In the water, a short skirt and topless (FOR GUYS ONLY) is ok- but once everyone's out and its time to hang by the fire- cover up.

Like one time, my boyfriend, who lives in an all-guy (cept his mom) household - came outta the house shirtless cuz he didn't know I had come to his house yet. He took one look at me, said "sorry didnt know you were here" and walked back inside and came back out in a shirt. I had the BIGGEST smile on my face because he respected me enough to go put a shirt on!!!

Oh how sweet of him!! MyLifeHisWill, i must say i really admire your boyfriend for that act. For the most part i prefer to have a conversation with a guy WITH his shirt on, otherwise it can be really AWKWARD. At the beach, it's okay, but even then if i were to talk with a guy who is shirtless, i'd mostly go for the "passing by" conversation rather than a nice easygoing conversation.

mylifehiswill, i would give your boyfriend the BIGGEST high five right now if i saw him, haha. that is AWESOME! maybe you should show him these comments, haha. :]

and yeah to explain further, i agree with the "passing by" conversation. i'm not gonna be like "PUT A SHIRT ON OR I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU!" if we're at the beach. that's a little insane. :p but if everybody's out of the water, hanging out, on the boardwalk, etc. then i would appreciate the guys with shirts on and the girls covered up, too.

i also agree with the mini-skirt thing. for me, i wear shorts because (as stated before) i'm more curvy on my lower half. mini-skirts just aren't flattering for me at all. but if it's at the beach and the skirt isn't like, "WOW, is she wearing anything?!" then i think it's fine.

:]

emilyjanelle~ I did show him the comments and he laughed and said, "Well, I'm glad I did it." He totally hadn't realized what a huge affect it had had on me and how highly other girls would think of it. That makes me smile even more cuz he did it just cuz he felt it was rite, w/o knowing that other people would find it so great lol

And about the mini-skirts ~ I mean even on the beach a skirt needs to cover SOMETHING - so I agree that they needa be a lil longer - but I mean, even once everyone has dried off, I think I'd throw my bermuda's back on - I'd just feel WAY more comfortable and I think its WAY more modest

MLHW, i totally agree with you. if i did wear a mini-skirt at the beach, it would only be in the water. as soon as i was out and dry, i would put some shorts on, definitely. even during the summer months i rarely wear regular shorts, it's usually bermudas/capris/and even pants if it's not sweltering.
