Okay, you've gotta read this winning entry for our Freedom Contest for Parents Only. What was he thinking???

Our story began when our son Thomas wanted to do a missions trip and we let him. The first year was great, he came back so inspired. The second year, something inside, said, don't let him go... he raised money to go, but he was a little money short of the grand total, so we let him go and work at one of the extreme camps, a week early before his schedule missions trip... Long story short, he found a girl he liked. Apparently, she was sexually active, and persuaded our son, to escape at night, and go off with her.

Unfortunately, she had second thoughts and cried rape, he really liked her alot, but she seduced him. He was detained and had to speak with the officials at the Missions center. He was let off, she broke down and said she lied. Our son Thomas, had sworn to a pact of Purity...so disbelief is all we could think of when the dreaded call came at a time when we least expected it.

Meanwhile, we had to spend an additonal 1,000 dollars to fly him home since the place he was at could not allow him to stay overnight, and he had to take the next flight out.

Needless to say, the Lord is using him in a capacity, close to home where we can help him with his temptations. He was only 15 at the time.

y'know, i don't feel mad at the kid. i feel mad at that girl. women are powerful beings. i'm thinking right now of a phrase my grandfather would say (not very much of a Christian but) if he saw this and it's making me laugh because it's not very appropriate for here. :p

God works all things for the good of those who love Him, though, right?

:]

You may as well come quiet.

Temptations can be powerful, but God provides an escape for every one...I think they mention that scripture in FYMO.  Anyway, I think the best way to not be overcome by them is to read the Word regularly...not just reading it, but actually letting it soak in and keeping it with you in your heart always.  God will bring back scriptures to your mind when you need them, but you have to actually read them and "hear" them in your heart first.  It's like preparing yourself, so you'll be ready when temptations come, cuz they will, but you don't have to fall into them :)

The one I've used alot recently is "flee from evil, cling to what is good." we shouldn't put ourselves (willingly) into situations where we can be tempted to sin. It is hard, but we have got to ask God to help us, cuz we are human, and we can't do it by ourselves, we need God to help us and guide us...

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live
