my dad is pretty distracted with work all the time. But when I was all dressed up for my sisters wedding dad took a picture on his phone of me and him and sent it to my boyfriend saying "I got a beautiful daughter, and you're not here, hope you're jealous" that made me laugh!

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

haha, Jo... I temporarily changed my user name to see if anyone would notice! Did you realize it was still me?

Back in 8th grade, one of my Mormon friends (he was my first crush, haha) mentioned something about self-esteem, so I asked him about it after our music class, and he said, "The only way to succeed in life is to have a good self-esteem, because without it, you're just... kinda down, know what I mean?" I replied with something to the effect of, "Yes, it does get you down, but you can't have true success without God." He agreed- but at the same time, I know he doesn't realize that he actually doesn't know God!

I hope that something small sank in... That was the first time I even got close to witnessing to him, and now I don't get to see him anymore... :( When I go to college and get on FB, I will certainly get back in touch! That is still a year and a half away, but I am going to start asking for prayer now. :)

that is awesome! yeah, praying now will help alot. :D
I have this friend, and I don't see him much anymore, but he's not saved, and we were on the same bus route, so we got to talk alot about God... and what was funny, he loved to steal my ipod and listen to my worship songs, and he'd sing them really loud on the bus haha (this was at uni btw)

YAY! :D

What religion is your other friend? Anything? I'd start by casually asking her about what she believes, then take it from there. It's hard to predict where the conversation will go, but you'll be fine. :)

I think lots of Christians get SELF-confidence confused with GOD-confidence. You see, without God living within us we are nothing, but when we have the beautiful spirit of Christ in us we are transformed into his likeness and made perfect. I actually just made a video about this on youtube. :) Just search: "Overcoming Physical Flaws." Hope you like it!

God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of POWER, of LOVE, and of SELF-DISCIPLINE. So do not be afraid to testify about our LORD.

good point Rose :D

as to witnessing with friends or people, if you know them well-ish it helps... just let her ask the questions about God, dont bring up topics yet about christianity... it also helps to know what you're talking about, so mabye look at some apologetics stuff.... and dont come on too strong, or it might scare them away.

Good point Rose! I love what you just said! I do have to say that male figures in a girl's life do have influence in her life, unfortunately, not all of it is positive. :/ I think, highly, that that's where we can turn to God for our true worthiness, especially since He loves us, He made us, and He knows us better than anyone on this planet. :) It feels wonderful to be able to turn to Him whenever I want, and call him 'Daddy' :)
As far as witnessing, the best advice I can give right now is to ask God about it, for wisdom and direction. Apologetics do help, and I'd say your actions and words really play a large role in witnessing. Walk the walk and talk the talk :P Haha. People will look at you, and see something different in how you handle yourself, and they just might think, 'hmm I want that for myself', or 'I wonder how she can act like that in those circumstances' :)

Be like the moon, cuz it reflects the sun :D hehe, get the pun :D

ahem anyways... that's in a song.

yeah i agree nicole, but I always agree with you :D hehe

God is like a dad, and a best friend and like my prince all in one!
There's these books, the "His Princess" series... the first goes through having God as your father, your dad, your refuge etc, the second called "His Princess bride" is about Jesus being your prince, being your rock, your love of your life and the 3rd is called "His Princess Warrior" about fighting the good fight, there are a few more, i think, but they really give an awesome insight into what/who God really is... and I loved how I didn't feel the NEED for a guy because until I get married, and even after that, God/Jesus is my first love and all I ever need and He fulfuls me :D

Gosh I miss this kinda discussion :D

Oh that was BEAUTIFUL Rose! I just watched your video, and it was wonderful!
I forgot to mention before, but I still do struggle with low self esteem from time to time. I know it's not so noticeable, because I always like to go outside of the norm, go crazy, laugh out loud, and I've over come most of my shyness (though some is definitely still there). But I still sometimes struggle with unworthiness (which I am)- it's just me, nothing special. With God though, I can rest assured that He loves me, He thinks I'm beautiful, and He will never leave me. With the world, it's a different story, but some of it comes down to how critical I am of myself, the rest of it is due to other factors. :P
I love the "His Princess" series by Sheri Rose Shepherd, and I'm trying to see about finding my mother's copy of "Captivating" For me, it's a daily battle to really and truly see the way God sees me and the world around me.

JoJo, did you get my email?
It would be good to hear what Will and Grant have to say about the self-esteem topic. :)
As for the witnessing, I agree with Jo: DON'T scare your friend away! But don't wait too long either, because you might lose your chance. That's something I've experienced, and it's certainly not a good feeling...
