my mom liked Avon, but the lady my mom would get stuff from, stopped selling.

She could get it from me if she's willing to pay shipping. I don't think it would be horribly expensive.

yeah there are avon representatives all over haha, and most you wouldn't even think of.
My mum's friend sold avon (In NZ...) and we used to get stuff from her, b4 my mum died, and then she died.... but yeah.
atm I tend to go for more expensive stuff just cuz you need it for stage performance...

Dictionary.com definition of vain: excessively proud of or concerned about one's own appearance, qualities, achievements, etc.; conceited: a vain dandy

There's the literal definition :P
As far as makeup- I do wear some, and I haven't been told I wear too much, and I would hope someone tells me if I do because too much makeup is NOT where I want to go. For the most part, I use eyeliner, mascara, mineral foundation, and some eyeshadow, though I can't stand too much of it. I will sometimes use blush, but usually for special occasions or the occasional outfit, but you can't tell so much either way :P

C.S. Lewis said that vanity was the lowest form of pride, I think it's because it's a form of pride that cares what others think, which kinda contradicts itself in a way, but thats all I have to say.

P.S. Thin lizzy's ads are a real pain, but still better than the one with Jennifer love hewitt, the way she said Kia Ora still makes me laugh. Lol.

Guys always say that girls shouldn't wear too much makeup. So I'm curious- how much is too much? And is it the foundation and powders that you don't like or is it too much eye makeup?

God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of POWER, of LOVE, and of SELF-DISCIPLINE. So do not be afraid to testify about our LORD.

How should we know? LOL We never use the stuff, so I personally don't have a clue what what is. I just know that too much is too much. I absolutely cannot stand the pasty, smeared on layered look that looks like if you crack a big grin, the makeup will crack, or if you touch their cheek you'll leave a smudge or a streak or something.
As for the eyeliner, etc., it doesn't look natural, and from my memory, I don't recall it ever making a girl more attractive in my eyes. I just saw a girl yesterday with a bright light blue, and the first thing I though was that she looked kinda cheap or trashy.
To me, too much makeup says "I don't have a perfect face or perfect skin and I'm not comfortable with that, so I smeared 1/2 a pound of artificial face paint on so that maybe you will be fooled and think that I am perfect and you will like me. I would WAY rather see a light blemish, or pale face, or whatever than see a thick layer of makeup that "looks perfect."
About the only makeup that I really like is a light light application that gives just a bit of natural color if it's lacking that day, or to soften and blend imperfections a little bit, not just totally cover them up. It's fine to maintain your natural look, just don't go and try to change it. I want to wake up in the morning to the same face my wife had last night when we went out for dinner or to a movie. It's fine if something about you isn't quite looking as natural as it usually does and if you wanna bring out your natural beauty for a special day or something.
The bottom line is...Be your naturally beautiful self, and don't put on a front and fake something you aren't. Call me a jerk, but as a single guy, when I saw a pasty made-up face, that was an instant scratch off my list. If they think they have to look that perfect, then I'm probably not gonna be good enough for them. *Steps off of soap box*

ha hun that reminded me of Surfs Up :D

well after hearing all THAT I'm not sure my 2 cents are worth much...I hate make up!! I can't stand it when I can't touch my face cuz I'm gonna smudge whatever I touch next, or when I itch my eyes and get mascara in them and look like I came from the grave! If I'm having an "I feel pale and colorless" I'll put on some blush and mineral wear, but give me 3 hours and I'll be in washing it off :P plus I am really sensitive and get really itchy, and *confession* I know absolutely nothing about make up! What colors to use and what goes where. And make up gives me pimples!

oh no, i agree grant, too much is yuck!! I see some cake face girls who have scored awesome as guys, and I'm like "HOW THE HECK did they get that guy and look so plastic??" but w/e haha

I think it has alot to do with foundation... moisteriser base and then mineral foundation is the best for looking as nautral as possible... liquid might make you seem smooth, but it does look plastic... how many times have I looked back at photos and gone "OMGosh, why did I ever put THAT on my face?" haha

as for eyeliner... I wear eyeliner, but sparingly... browns are usually the best to go for... especially for blondes or redheads... black looks.... odd, cuz the rest of you is fair...

I'm a brunette, but I mostly wear brown mascara and eyeliner... only wear black for stage (including falsies... but thats stage, I wouldn't walk out on the street like that...) and for special events... even then, it's thin... not like 2 mm thick all around my eye :P

IDK how to add photos to my post, as Julie's message doesn't show on my computer, so... I'll change my profile pic...

No, I do agree with Grant and Jo that too much makeup is not natural. Sometimes I look at my pictures, and I'm like- 'HOW did I miss that? I put on too much eyeliner!' Boy.... -_- Eyeliner is supposed to draw attention to the eyes, but I think too much just over does it- and I confess: I'm trying to tone down how much eyeliner I wear. I do agree with Jo- the moisturizer base and mineral foundation is good for a natural look- *I wonder if I agree because that's what I use :P Haha!
Oh Clare you're beautiful just the way you are- to use the old cliché- and I always tell girls that the natural look is the best (though facial care is good too). between us all- I sometimes look back to the day I actually tried on eyeliner, and I wonder how different it would be now if I didn't. :P It's nice not to put makeup on when I stay at home ^_^ Haha! When I see girls with about a pound of makeup on their face, I'm just thinking: Wow that's a lot of makeup, how can you manage?

I think the reason guys go for girls with more make-up than a minstrel is because they stop being a person and become an object, like a trophy to them, and as we all know testosterone makes us a little compeditive, I mean even for a guy who, like me, isn't activly pursuing a sexual relationship, a lot of make-up stops them being so much like a person and more of a prize.

no Jennifer love hewitt can't speak maori, but the fact that I still remember the ad (It was for sheer cover, I think) means the marketing team knew what they were doing.

Amen to that, Grant! :D It's possible to wear makeup, and even modest clothing with the wrong motives. A girl can think, "I wonder if he (whether it be the guy she likes, or just any guy) noticed my haircut?" She might wonder, "Does he like this color on me?" Girls, be aware of that. It's okay to wonder, but I think for most girls get obsessive without realizing it. Once you get to the point where you *can't* go out of the house without makeup, you've gone too far. I would challenge you to guard against it. Once you start slipping in that area, it's likely that you'd be more beautiful dressed like a nun, wearing no makeup! :P

Okay, girls. My personal taste is that if you're gonna wear makeup, your powder (or foundation) had better match your skin color! My foundation (I only wear it on my nose to keep the powder on! Sometimes under my eyes if I didn't sleep well the last night.) goes on just like a lotion so it's very light. I love blush if it's applied very lightly. (Guys, it's the pinkish stuff that goes on cheeks) I like neutral brown eyeshadows for every-day wear, and sometimes a soft purple, green, pale pink, or silvery blue just on the eyelids. Eyeshadow only looks good if applied lightly! As for eyeliner, I really like it IF IT'S THIN. (!!!!!!!!!!) I usually wear bronze (something Asians can pull of quite well!) or a soft silver. I started off wearing eyeliner at 16 and the first thing I tried was black. Then I moved to dark brown until changing to bronze/silver. I occasionally wear plum that looks almost brown. They have all looked natural, but I feel more "modest" in bronze/silver, because they're softer on my eyes than brown and black--so they give a more gentle look. (Not that I would ever want my makeup to look cheap, though!!!) NOOOOO to red lipstick!!! My final rule is that eye shadow shouldn't show in a picture of you, unless it's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY close-up. If it does show, that means you're wearing too much.
