Dude, this is Mac's sis Jade.......I figured I'd hack in and do some spillage. So I guess my question is this. Do you predetermine how you feel about certain people even before you meet them based on how they dress or look in general. Like if they have a lot of piercings or tattoos are you more likely to shy away from them because you think they aren't "good" people. I know some of you might think this is a lame question but I'd really like to hear what you all think because I'm being completely serious. I know in the past I've judged many people based on how they look even though I'd never met them before. Some of the coolest people I've met happen to be the weirdest looking ones.

i agree completely, and from experience, too.

my youth group these days is filled with homeschoolers, public schoolers, cyber schoolers, and public turned cyber schoolers. but we all love each other to death! some of us color our hair, have piercings, and two of our recent graduates this past school year (boy and pastor's daughter, and they're dating for over a year now) have gotten tattoos.

i've only just told you all that because, diversity is awesome. God changes people in whatever way He sees fit. if what's on the outside matches the inside, then it will stay. but if a person is just putting on makeup (girls and guys, too), coloring their hair, wearing tight clothes, etc. just to please themselves and/or others, then God will change them. many in my youth group have slowly but surely changed their outward appearance (some without even realizing it until all was said and done) because, "man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7)

to basically answer your question, yes, i judge people constantly. by their looks, actions, words. and not by their life, like i should. i judge them by what i assume they're like, which is wrong. we all do it, whether we want to admit it or not.

You may as well come quiet.

Yes, I must admit how a person looks on the outside affects my initial judgement of them. But then you get to know them, and find out a lot more about them. I am now trying not to be so quick to make my initial judgment on them, and wait until I know them better!

God Can.

this is mac..lol.. yeah i would say that i used to be pretty judgmental of people that i didn't really know just by their appearance, but you see my dad works with these guys that used to be in gangs and such and they have totally changed my perspective. They have tattoos all over, piercings, and have a past. but hanging out with them they have become like my big brothers and i don't know what i would do without them! I think that God has used times like this in my life to show me that just because someone looks a certain way or has a bad past does not give you the right to judge them. Only God has that right.. and i am so grateful that i have been exposed to things like these so that i will hopefully be less likely to judge people.. not to say that i won't i am just saying that it is less likely now!

i used to totally judge people the first time I saw them based on what they were wearing or what they looked like. Pretty shallow, huh?

but i went to a school that was basically like a public school and slowly started hanging out w/ people i usually wouldn't hang out with. and i realized that there's a lot more to people than what you can see. some people i wouldnt ordinarily hang out with have become my best friends and i've learned a lot from them. Thanks to God for opening my eyes and showing me that everyone is the same underneath the exterior. Not the same exacvtly, but you know what i mean.
