Fellow Females,

Here are some questions you can ask yourself when you are getting ready for the day:

Why do I want to wear this outfit?

What does this outfit communicate about me?

Am I allowing intimate or alluring parts of my body to be exposed?

Am I allowing intimate or alluring parts of my body to be emphasized?

If someone were to look at this outfit, where would their eyes naturally go? Are they drawn to my countenance or intimate parts of my body?

Is the outfit still modest when I move around? (lift arms, side view, sit down, bend over)

I hope this helps

i think it's good that you posted this because so many girls just put on an outfit and don't even realize that they may be attracting someone in the wrong way with that outfit.

you're SO right, DZ! even some of my closest girl friends (Christians all of their lives) slip up once in a while, and i have to be like, "girl, what ARE you wearing?" because sometimes we just don't think about it!

That's a great list of questions!
I know it's so easy to slip in that area and think that an item of clothing is ok even if it's a little tight or a little lower or a little shorter than what you'd normally wear. Everyone else is wearing it!
It's good to shop with someone who can give you an honest opinion, like you mum. So when you fall in love with an outfit, they can gently tell you it's not appropriate.
I shop with my Mum, so she's able to give me her opinion. I am getting to be a better judge on what needs to be put back on the hanger and what is ok. :)

un fortunate ly i luv fashion, and there are so many "cute" clothes that arent exactly what I like wearing. i do enjoy dressing modestly, but i didnt realize tighter clothes were a prob 2. i just thought low shirts and too much leg was it. its made me rethink some of my clothes (skinny jeans, strecthy  shirts) ... its good that i did, cuz im in a new relationship and i dont wanna send the rong message in my clothes. this book come to me at the rite time.

Yeah, it's a bit harder for me because My mum died about 5 years ago... so if I want someone to give me an honest oppinion, I have to shop with my dad, and that can be so akward cuz dad would rather have me wear a tent, and no make up and not even let me out of the house lo0l :P o.k he's not that bad, but i think he gets really annoyed when any guy talks to me, even if we're just friends...

Hey, so I have a question. My friends all pin me as the 'goody-goody' which is VERY annoying. When I asked why the answer they came up with was this:
You dont wear clothes that show any skin.
You dont wear clothes to show off your body.
Ok, well isnt doing that wrong? I mean yes, I want to look attractive, but isnt there another besides 'showing off your body'?

yeah, I completely agree with you, Joy. there should be another way! and there often is, we just have to work a little harder at finding it. "showing off" our bodies can... well, be akin to boys showing off their physical strength or just showing off in general, with anything they're good at (or sometimes, not. haha). we condemn them, many times, for being "too obnoxious", and "crude." well... isn't it obnoxious and crude to "show off" what is supposed to be (God-willing) our husband's, and even before that, God's?

Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple. - 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

One other thing I like to remember is, if you're hesitating over whether or not 'that cute shirt' is too tight or too low, or whatever, DON'T BUY IT! :)

Well just wondering thoughts here - r skinny jeans bad? Cuz rele "skinny" is referring to the leg at the bottom - instead of "boot cut" or "flare" - so like, i dont see a prob with them....but any other opinions?

I don't want to just "live" I want to experience life.

@MLHW - I think it honestly depends on body type. for me, I can wear skinny jeans and look fine. but 2 years ago, before I lost 25 pounds, randomly? NO. haha! that would've been a scream. and my one friend, who's not chunky, but much curvier in her hips and thighs, just can't wear them. either they're too loose in the waist, or too long, or if both of those are good, they're then too tight. it's just not physically possible for some girls to look modest in certain things that others can, because we're all made differently!

sometimes it's easiest to ask a boy you can trust "hey are these jeans or this shirt ok?" I like shopping with my boyfriend (he hates it) because he will tell me what he thinks. Sure every once in awhile he'll find a shirt and tease me about it, but we both know niether of us want me to wear it!
