I know for me, sometimes it pays to get an older girl's oppionion on things, and sometimes you cant go to your mum. (Like my mum died, so I can either talk to my dad which is akward, or my aunti who lives on the other side of the world... not much options...). and from what I guess, Im older than most of the girls on here, so...
Does anyone have a question, etc?
I'm a christian, so obviously, I'll be giving answers from a christian veiw point.
Also if guys want advice, I can maybe help in that area too, and my brother might be able to help...
(It's awesome having a brother like that! :D )
Anywho....
fire away
:D

Alright- when I have a question for you I'll remember this...

Most of the nearly two billion children in the developing world have inadequate access to dinosaurs. Some receive no paleontology training at all. One in three has never even seen a dinosaur in person.

OVPC is an organization providing a means to an end - an end that sees children in even the most remote regions of the globe being given the motivation and adrenaline to tap into their own potential, identify with the survival needs of a global dinosaur-driven culture, and to contribute to a paleontological world community.

I'm feeling rather old here too, I'm just about 18(woo!) which is probably older than most people here. So feel free to ask me too. Jojo, maybe we can compare advice!

May the Lord bless and keep you, may His face shine upon you, and be gracious and give you peace.

haha, and I'm a guy of average age... but yeah, I kinda wanted to take a shot at it, because presumably I'd know more about what'd happen to a guy when a girl tells him she doesn't "like" him...

Basically, it depends on what you mean by you don't like him- if you say "he's nice but..." then I'd guess you're fine with being friends- in which case, just do stuff that kinda forces being normal friends, like never hanging out with him alone- among other things, that makes it awkward to get more than a certain degree of personal conversation, so... hence he would have to ask you to get alone... better yet, just make that common practice- don't hang out with guys alone without your dad's (or mom, I guess, but I'd recommend a dad) permission. Then tell your parent that you aren't interested in him, and tell him that he'd have to talk to them first- then
a.) you aren't dealing with his emotions, it's in your parent's hands, and they're probably better able to handle it than you are, and
b.) your dad can filter guys out- he can pick up on the bad ones better than you or your mom, and tell you what's wrong with them (make sure you agree on that ahead of time- if he checks a guy out and says no, you want to know why, and you want to talk to him (dad) about it before he gives a final answer.
Basically, just ask your dad to talk to him, and tell your dad that you don't want him to know you're just not interested... so yeah, it means that you'll learn more about this guy in the first place, and you'll know a ton more about your boyfriend( or s) in the future... it's just a good idea, it's safer, and the guys just after you because they think you're cute will fail that interview- it just makes things easier.

So, summary... do stuff that forces normal friendship, and have your dad deal with fending the guys off- if the guy can't pass that interview, he's not man enough to be worth your time.
Oh, and be respectful of your dad- he's doing you a great service, and if you go about complaining about his interviewing guys for you it might encourage the guy to keep after you anyway, and your dad might veto guys you really like just because you're being disrespectful to him. However if you value it, chances are he'll be way on your side of the guy issue, and you won't have to worry about making obvious mistakes. It makes life easier for you, and it will make your parents a lot less worried about who you're with. So yeah, that's my $0.02

Oops, yeah, I guess im not that old... :P
but mac, I do agree with wjr1991. That is probably the best solution. and its way better advice than I could have given you on the subject... When guys like me and I dont like them, I tend to get all snobbish (without really realizing it...) but definitely DONT do that!! Id maybe also say stuff like "Im glad to have you as a friend" and play up the friend angle, I know it sounds cliche, but it sometimes works, but yeah, wjr1991 has probably given you the best advice on what to do.

HAHA, o.k. I think Im gonna post on my own post...

o.k. what do you do when your bestest best friend ever comes home on holiday for a week, but brings her boyfriend, and she cant even take one day off to come see you? she planned a sleepover, so I could see her, but didnt check if I could make it, and I cant, so she cant have it anymore, but her alternative as "Well, ill be coming your way maybe on wed, so If i do, my boyfriend and I could meet you for lunch." And what sucks most is she knows Im at a time in my life where I need a friend that I can confide in and cry with, you know, someone to just be there for me. and even knowing this, she still wont take time away from her bf for her bestie! and I mean, i was looking forward to having her home so we could have a really good talk, and now, i cant...

Adding my own question to the mix. How do you know when a relationship is over? My boyfriend and I have been going out for a year, but lately he seems disinterested in what we are doing. We decided to take a "break" while I figured out some personal problems and get back together in few weeks. That deadline is coming up quick, and I've started to talk to him about it. However he is acting like we should wait a little longer, but tells me it's my choice. Should I wait, or just call it quits????

Well, seeing as I've never been in your situation, I can only suggest things that I think will help.
The only thing I've had that came close was a really close guy friend, who i potentially could have dated. For me, i knew I had to give up on hoping for more because, I couldnt picture myself marrying the guy, he wasnt a christian, he smoked and partied every night (probably got off his face drunk too... but idk...) With him being disinterested in what you (as a couple) are doing, maybe he just doesnt like doing certian things?? it depends if it seems like he's deliberately avoiding stuff... or is he getting bored doing the things you are doing? Maybe you guys just need some time off, and with you saying that the dead line is coming up and he wants to take a bit longer, maybe it means he has to sort some stuff out?? im not sure. Maybe extend the break for a little longer, really think about where you see the relationship going and if you really want it to continue. Pray about it and honestly, just really look at the situation from every angle. Then you can go to him (when you are absolutely sure what to do...) and talk to him about it. That should help you know if you should continue the relationship or call it quits...
I hope that helps...

Ok, well here goes my question, because I'm surely not 18 yet

1) K, after rading FYWO, I've relaized even saying little jokes at around guys can actually hurt them, even if it's something they shouldnt take personally. So, I'm trying to be more nicer and caring and stuff, and not 'ganging' up on them with crude jokes and stuff anymore, that normally we'd all laugh at, but now I reliaze, even if he doesn't show it, it hurts. But now I'm really caught in the middle on how I should act, because I think I might be tooo nice now, and leading the guys on, which I totalllyy don't wanna do, because I'm horrible at rejection. So, what should I do? I can't really balance the two out (Joking around and being nice - maybe too nice in this case) I don't wanna hurt the guys I know, but I don't wanna flirt with everyguy without knowing it!

2) Hah, I don't know why but players like me, and when they flirt, I don't excatly want to shut them out (cause I could hurt them again, even if they don't show it) But I don't wanna flirt back because I don't wanna show them that I'm clueless, and have no idea what they're doing. (I guess it kinda ties in with the 1st questions)

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, it is hard. I've even realised that! I have LOTS of guy friends, and I dont want to hurt them, but I also dont want them all thinking the i have crushes on them.
What I do is if it's a guy that i dont like "in that way" Ill always bring up the "friend" card. It's stupid, I know, but it reinforces that you just want to be friends in a nice way. like I'd say something like "You are such an awesome *friend* and I really value you as a *friend*" or something to that equivalent.
Im not sure if that helps, as with the joking around part, Im even having trouble with that. I guess just try to think of how whatever you're about to say, might sound to them. Like with one guy friend, i was talking about my brother's annoying friends and said "I cant stand stupid 17 year olds!" (he was 17 by the way...) but I wasnt meaning all 17 year olds, just the annoying ones, but he thought I was including him in my comment.
Maybeif you realise you said something he could take the wrong way, apologies straight away and tell him what you really meant by the comment.

As for the "Player dudes"
I've had my share of those!!! I also HATE rejecting people, I feel like such a jerk when I have to.
I also tend to shut them out... maybe just avoid "Obviously flirty" things. like my biggest problem is that I laugh at just about everything, so I laugh at stupid things that guy's do to try and impress you. all my friends think Im being flirty, but its just that I cant help laughing, I even laugh at stupid, not-even-funny jokes.
Maybe just say (if they ask you out, or give hints...) that you just want to be friends with guys at this point. If they seriously are "players", they'll get bored after a while because you arent reacting to their efforts, and move on.
I hope I could help a bit...

I was just wondering what was it like for you when your dad realised your old enough to want to date guys?
Like we'll be watching a movie and someone will get married and dad will just randomly say "that will be you in like 5 years" and then it just gets reallyyy awkward even though he's joking.
It's not really so bad now since im not even thinking of dating someone but i need some advice for the future since we havent even had the "how old do i have to be when i can date" talk, which i can tell will be pretty painful.

By the way  JoJo in your photo are u the one on the left or the right, i wonder about it like everytime i see it.
