I think it's partly because we don't always believe you (I have a hard time believing it myself, even though I know better), partly because the message culture pounds into us is that chivalry and treating a woman like a princess are outdated and offensive to women, and partly because we forget. It's nothing simple, really.

Haha. I'm like the opposite of that. Not opening doors and stuff like that seems so weird to me. I've always done that since I can remember. Even to just friends and people I've just met. I guess I'm just very courteous. I think that's a good thing.

As I said, I know girls feel that way, I just don't always believe it. I still do my best to be very nice and courteous, I just don't think that way all the time.

I don't feel nervous to do that. But then again I've discovered that I'm quite opposite compared to most guys so idk haha

For me i guess it's always been normal to hold the door for girls...that's how i was taught. But as Locke said i still have a hard time believing that girls actually notice it that much... thanks for the encouragement!! i'll try to do it more! :)
and bout feeling nervous? not really. the worst that's happened to me is being teased about it but then it was with friends so they're gonna tease...but infront of other guys? It's just so normal that i don't think about it.

Just making it clear, It's cool as when guys do that for girls and it makes us respect them more, but if you're obviously doing it just to get us to think better of you, girls see right through it and will think you're a loser lol

Turn up the music
Turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
'Cause you won't regret it
Lookin' back from where you have been
'Cause it's not who you knew
And it's not what you did
It's how you live

To answer your question, Dare2Dream, no, I don't feel awkward about it… I just have a hard time believing that girls actually like it. ;) Still, like Jo that's how I was taught to behave by my parents, so I do it regardless.

JoJo: yep. Though sometimes girls misinterpret what we're doing and get annoyed with us. :)

Yeah, we do tend to do that Locke...
Have any of you seen "Take The Lead?" It's a dancy movie, but it has a great message. In it, there's this guy (BTW it's based on a true story...) named Pierre, and he decided to teach ballroom dancing in schools, and of corse, not many people think ballroom is cool! But it was because it teaches guys to treat girls with respect, and when girls see how guys can treat them with respect, they're more likely to not let guys push them to do stuff.
But that's not my point.
In the movie Pierre opens doors for all the woman and stands when they enter a room and one of the guys says "Dude, you're being a punk a$$, you aint gonna get no play"
And Pierre says "I get plenty of play, see, all those woman smiled at me."
And the dude says "But you didnt get no numbers!!"
Basically the girls appreciated it when Pierre did it, but when the dude who was talking to him started doing it, They all thought he was an idiot...
You'd probably have to watch the movie to get what Im meaning, it's kinda hard to explain...
