I agree with you Clare. I know alot of christian families who wouldn't expose their kids to anything, like dbz, pokemon, wrestling, um, can't think of anything atm and my family let my bro and i watch/do stuff (doing stuff as in going to dances, etc) but always told us what the acceptable stuff to do, was... and because of that, we have been able to decide for ourselves what we shouldn't be watching / doing. often we've left [arty's early cuz people got drunk, watched dodgy movies, etc. I donno how really sheltered people would react in those situations... for example my one friend (who's been homeschooled her whole life, they don't go to youth group, they go to a small church, have almost no interaction with the outside world, etc etc. and dont have tv etcetc. and one guy asked her to marry him (remember she's like my age, maybe 19...) and she doesn't really know him too well, and she said yes, cuz he's been the only guy who showed interest etc... and IDK if it was me, I don't think I could have said yes... it's really weird lol |

| It's sick. I know so many people who marry the first one because no one else asked or because that's just what you do. No way! I grew up in a church setting where there was no tv, some no new papers, no music radio no sports etc.I know alot of people who know nothing about real life and the world. |

OK so I think that it isn't the porn itself that is addictive but the reactions that come out of it that are addictive. Lemme see if i can get this illustration right. If it doesn't make sense let me know. I pretend that I understand half of this, but it was talked about in a purity Bible study and was incredibly interesting. Ok so your body naturally has this chemical called Dopamine. It activates you reward circuitry in your brain, which drives nearly all of your behaviors. Anything that You body enjoys releases Dopamine. Eating, sex ect. And in turn your brain remembers in what situation you were in when you had that experience. For example you sitting in a restuarant but your not hungry, dont you usually eat anyways? Or when you are at the movies, don't you always have to have that tub of popcorn? Wouldn't it then stand to reason that for a guy who just unintentionally stumbled onto a porn site one day, or a girl who found this book at the library or a person watching that inappropriate movie, (whether they climaxed or not) and recieved some amount of pleasure from it. So then the next time that guy was on the computer, or the girl was reading at the library or that person was choosing a movie to watch, their brain would remember the pleasure they got from it and continue that cycle. There is my view on the addiction part. And the reason that it is one of the hardest addictions to break besides sex or maturbation itself is because an orgasm creates the biggest release of dopamine ever recorded. So when a person is in the same situation the last time the had an orgasm their body will basically be saying 'hey I want that feeling again!' Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in this. THis is just what I got from what was being said. I hope that made sense |

Haha I know right? Lol I'm older now, like 3 years older than when I first joined these forums, and when I look back at all my answers, some I agree with, and I have the same opinion, but others... mmm I would either take a different approach, or answer differently. If I'm still on these forums like another 3 years from now, I'll probably have some different answers too... or have nothing better to do than stay on the teen forums Haha! |
