Well, how should i start... I resently got my copy of FYMO and I will admit it was a big help. The problem is I guess I need to hear answers that are directed at my own question. That being said, I can't figure out how a normal person like me should even try to aproche someone of the opposite gender. I mean sure, I know that I have to be more self confident, but that is the very problem. Being a would-be writer I often imagine myself being able to do what it is I want to. When the time for action comes however, no mater what I try, my mind reverts back to the "Background Character" thats in every story and no one notices.
I guess what I'm asking is, How should a person like me go about working on this problem |

Um david recently posted something along these lines... you should read that too 
But basically, just trying, in itself, is being confident, and any decent girl wouldn't care if you were a little shy etc. always be yourself, dont be afraid to try new things and be confident in what you can do... like your writing. |

Jojo says it all: just trying to be confident and being yourself, even if you are a little shy, is totally fine. I do encourage you to check out the topic "The impossible.." on the forum, you'll find wonderful advice from other people. For the most part, just be yourself, who God created you to be.  |

Believe it or not, I often get nervous around guys that I don't know, so I know it can be intimidating. I find it easier when we're in a group of people that I already know =]

I can say I suffer from the exact same problem. I can very easily imagine what I will do and I can convince myself that I am going to do it but as soon as I am in the actual situation I lose it completely and just revert back to my shy self.
It's easy to say just be yourself and be confident but it's really hard when those two things directly conflict. My advice is don't let yourself daydream about what you could do or what if I did this and then all the girls were like 'my hero'. Instead decide firmly on a goal for the day, approach so and so and just say hi or good morning, start off small and just have real conversations with the girls you are most comfortable with. |

Thank you for the insite everyone, I'm sorry about creating a topic when there was one of similar standing not far bellow me. I realy think that just trying to be more self confident all the time is all I will ever be able to pull off.

| David really has something there... that's often what I do. "he's not THAT cute" or "he's not THAT amazing", when in reality, he probably is. haha. but if I convince myself not to get my head in the clouds too much and act normal around him, not goo-goo-ga-ga, it works out alright. reality checks, almost constantly, really help. |
