I thought I would put up a small and short devotional that you can do and it only takes about 10 - 15 minutes and it has drastically changed my life. It is called a Bible Reading Project.
Basically what you do is you write down your personal context for the day. How you are feeling what you are going through ect, then you choose one chapter in the Bible to read, I would suggest New Testament, preferably Ephesians, Galatians, 1 & 2 Peter, James some of those are awesome. Then you write down some notes of what you got out of that chapter. You write down a key verse that popped out at you, and then a Title to your project. Then after that you write down a lesson, or what you got from the chapter that can possibly be applied to your personal context. I'll give you an example of one and write one of mine that I did so you can see what I mean. But it is really incredible. When you write out you lesson you can write it one of two ways. One being just what you learned and another is to write it out like it is God talking to you. I would suggest starting out just writing out what you learned and then as you begin to feel comfortable with it try to do it from God's point of view. So here is one of my BRP's

Personal Context:
I am feeling so frustrated and hurt. I thought I was becoming friends with this one person, last semester. But he all of a sudden just stopped talking to me. I don't know why or what caused this change. He is in a few of my classes and it makes it so awkward and hard during class. A part of me wants to make one last effort to become friends, but then another part feels like, if he didn't want to be friends, if he doesn't care; if he doesn't want to put in the effort to be friends why should I?

Scripture: Galatians 5

Notes:
If we stand firm in Christ, we will not be burndened.
Don't aim to destroy you fellow human beings, but "Love you neighbor as yourself."
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us live like Scripture saye we are too.

Title: No Grudges

Key Verse: Galatians 5:10
I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion will pay the penalty, whoever he may be.

Lesson:
Why do you hold on to this pain that has been done to you? You are doing nothing but creating animosity. Have I not commanded you to "Love you neighbor as yourself?" Forgive what has been done to you and have faith that I and only I can release you from this pain and trouble. Focus on me and I will guide you to the people that you will grow with in faith and love.

I hope this helps someone, somewhere grow closer in their relationship and farther in their journey with mine and their amazing God. :)

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will recieve the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Hey! This is awsome. Actually ive never heard of this project - but for a good almost two years ive been doing that! Last September I took on the challenge at Aquire the Fire to read the whole BIble in a year (I cnt believe I've almost done it!) and so I read a Pslam, a few verses in proverbs, a chapter from the NT and two chapters from the OT a day. I write down what I get out of it, normally after dumping on God about how i feel that day. Then I make my own mini devo! Awsome! I really love it - and I always love copying down verses too!

I don't want to just "live" I want to experience life.

Scripture John 11

Personal Context:
I am so tired and frustrated. I wound up coming down with the stomach flu. But even after I got over that I was still feeling sick. But this time it was different, it feels like what my colitis feels like. I was hoping that my colitis would stay gone, but instead it came back with a vengence. It feels like it did when it first started. I am so upset that it has come back. I don't think I can handle another semester feeling sick. I don't understand why this has happened.

Notes:
Whoever believes in Jesus will live in Jesus even though they die.
Whoever live and believesin Jesus will never die.

Title: God's Glory

Key Verse: John 11:4
When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No it is for God's glory that God's son may be glorified through it."

Lesson:
I see you, my child. I see your pain. I see your suffering. Know that I do not delight in it. But that I also feel your pain and suffering. Trust in me that I have a plan for you, and you will not suffer one second more than you have too. But know that through your suffering someone else might find hope. Trust in me, and know that I love you.

On a side note, this was done at 3 in the morning with my stomach keeping me up. I was SO mad at God. When I opened my Bible it opened to this chapter. I know the chapter, it was preached on that Sunday. So as soon as I saw it I started bawling. It was a few minutes before I could actually read it.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will recieve the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Scripture: James 1

Personal Context:
I'm getting very frustrated with the fact that I still feel sick. I've missed my Apprentice class and Cornerstone today because of me feeling sick. I know that God sees me with this, but that doesn't change the present and the fact that I DO feel sick. Along with feeling sick comes the stress that I have, wondering when I'm going to start feeling sick, if I'll be able to make it to the stuff I want to do, and the things I need to do.

Notes:
Testing develops perseverance.
If you lack wisdom, ask God, he gives it generously.
Every good and perfect thing is from God.

Title: Perseverance

Key Verse: James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Lesson:
Beloved, know and remember, I see you and I have this amazing plan for you. Trust that whatever you are going through now, I am using for good. You will grow in your faith through this. Whenever you begin to fall and doubt, lay back and take rest in me, I will make you whole. I want all of you, give it all to me: your faith, trust, fears, doubts, love; throw it all to me. I want to carry you through this. You are my beloved.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will recieve the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
