| okay so there's this girl i like and i recently told her i love her and she told me it back, but recently when she says i love you, it seems like she's joking more than serious.......how can i tell if she really means it? cause if she doesn't i dont want to get into this relationship and then find out that it was a waste of time and then me getting my heart crushed...what should i do? |

| you can tell if she means it I think just by the general way she says it. If she tells it to you straight while looking at you, then she's probably serious. If she tells you it then laughs or cracks a joke, it might not be serious. Pray to God and ask that he shed light on the topic and help you understand all of it... good luck! |

She might be afraid that you were joking when you said it, and she's feeling the same way that you are, that she doesn't want to get too involved in this if it's going to break up. Or she is afraid that though you were serious when you said it, she's trying to keep it light and not get too involved too quickly.
Sit her down and have a serious discussion about where you think the relationship is going. It's scary, but trust me, it's insanely impressive when the guy is open about what he expects and initiates the define the relationship talk =] |

Basically you can tell if someone loves you by their actions... If they'd do anything for you, if they'd talk to you at all hours of the night just because you need someone to talk to, if they'd stay in hospital with you or visit you, if they'd drop anything to come pick you up 4 hours away because you need help or w/e.... but that kinda stuff takes rime to figure out... like my host sisters, I lived with them 3 years ago, but if I ever need to stay somewhere in aux or if I need someone to take me to hospital appointments or someone to stay with me @ night in hospital, they are there. and my dad will drop anything to come get me or take me to auditions etc.
so yeah... also age makes a difference, Like I'm almost 21 and I've only just started realizing what Love is and realizing I cant just give my heart away to every guy that shows interest (not that I have) but you know what I mean. you learn new things everyday. Until you know the origin of Love (God) and what he did to show us love, and we recieve that love, we can never truelly love anyone else. just like you can't love someone if you dont love who you are first. Love is sacrificial. and I donno what else to say really lol. |

Right on. If someone loves you they will come see you when you're sick even if it means they'll be sick the next week (start that circle it's hard to stop it.lol) They'll do, say, or give little things that surprise you and make you feel special. They'll think you are beautiful even when you have paint on your face, wearing dirty clothes, and smell like a barn.
Saying I love you means nothing unless you back it up with actions. |

| wow thanks peoples! and JoJo i do know the orgin of love i've been going through some tough times lately but now that i think about it my girlfriend is always there for me when i need to talk and vice versa, i'm young but i do know what love is and dating is to get to know some1 to eventually marry them/find out if they are the one, but honestly i want to date the girl i'm gonna marry a good amount of time cause i want to know i can talk to her everyday and never get tired of talking to her anywho thanks for your answers/replies it was very helpful God bless you all!! |

| in my experience, girls will say I love you to so many people. We love our dogs, we love your outfit, we love our friends, we love the food at this one restaurant, we love you like a brother, we love you like a friend, we love you with agape (jesus love) love. Girls tend to "love" lots of things. You have to figure out if she loves you the same way you love her. She could be nervous, shy, holding back, or not interested. I agree that a serious talk about your relationship is a good Idea. I'd set it up to be durring an activity. Take her skiing, swimming, to dinner, somewhere where you can be alone and hanging out together and then you can breach the subject when you're taking a break at the food court. Just an idea, I talk better if i'm doing something active.I also wouldn't say "we have to talk" or "I have something I want to talk about" because when I hear that my mind goes into overdrive and I'm worried about what I did wrong or what's going to happen. Just start a conversation and ease into the toppic of directionality. Good luck! |
