I met a great Christian guy at a weekend conference that my youth group went to several months ago. We talked some there, and got each others' numbers and added each other on Facebook. Since then, we've talked a couple times over Facebook chat and texting. We're both planning on going on the same mission trip this summer. Because we didn't talk a lot face to face, I'm not sure how much we should talk over Facebook and texting. I know guys can be really open online and I want the relationship to be real, one where we ask each other questions face to face and get to know each other that way. I don't want to arrive for this mission trip and know everything about him (making it super awkward). At the same time, I don't want him to feel like I'm ignoring him. Any suggestions?

God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of POWER, of LOVE, and of SELF-DISCIPLINE. So do not be afraid to testify about our LORD.

oops I did that. went on a mission trip with this guy. I'm 19 and he 35. we didn't talk much, just emailed a few times. Then a few months later i said something to him on facebook, then we chatted for awhile...then he needed my number for something he was ordering for me (long story) then we started texting. In my mind it was always very clear this guy is 35!! And I don't agree with him on a few BIG things. Then the other night he confessed he's falling for me. That in just talking or texting I seem more his age. And that's not good. As awkward as it is I desperately wanted to laugh!!!
So, be careful!!! And maybe you should mention to him that you don't want to be sharing to much. A texting/email relationship is always" better" than the real person. You don't know the person as well as you think!
