As normal, I suspect a guy would kinda not like being asked by a girl, unless that was the way the dance was set up. Especially if you just met him.
If you become friends over the next 2 months and neither of you has a date the week before, you might suggest that you two go as friends, but don't count of that.

My personal opinion, I go solo to dances. I don't want to be with only one person the entire night, I want to be able to dance with lots of girls and guys. (Where I'm from, if you go to dances with somebodyyour stuck with them the entire night) So, I just go with friends.

As for the girl asking a guy thing. My rule? Only on Sadie-Hawkins dances.

*In my khaki pants. Theres nothing better. Girls ask the guys. It's always a suprise. There's nothing better. Baby do you like my sweater?*

Haha, anyone else know that song? ;)

Madison- wow... that's actually a really good idea! (although I have only actually gotten one friend to go to a dance... even knowing they're social dances... but if I could, that'd be what I'd do too...)

And the Sadie Hawkins thing- that's what I said (although I've already said something to that effect 5 or 6 times already)

Yup, I know the song :-) (of course, as a homeschooler, almost any dance can turn into a Sadie Hawkins- especially if the girl goes to a "real" school)

i agree with william and adison, i would definitely only ask him if it was set up that way. otherwise, just be his friend for now. let things come as they will and see what happens. who knows? maybe he's thinking of asking you, too! but guys should always ask girls.
and of course i know that song, too! man, ya gotta love the good ol' relient k days, haha.
:]

You may as well come quiet.

WOW! I didn't know there were so many homeschoolers. I am too.
One good thing I have is, I don't even have to think about this kind of stuff, since I don't go to any dances or anything! :-) LOL

About your problem:
I personally would not ask him out. Just pray; maybe you two can become friends.
Maybe you can ask a friend of yours (a girl who all ready has a date) to ask him if he plans on going. Then she can ask who he plans on going with.
Make sure she has a date. Then he won't think she's trying to ask him out.
